Veteran industrialist Ratan Tata passed away, many leaders including Prime Minister Modi expressed condolences

Tata Group’s honorary chairman and veteran industrialist Ratan Tata died late Wednesday night at a Mumbai hospital. He was 86 years old.

Padma Vibhushan awardee Ratan Tata died at 11.30 pm at Breach Candy Hospital in south Mumbai, a top police official told PTI.

He was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital for the last few days.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that industrialist Ratan Tata will be cremated with full state honours.

Tata’s family said in a statement, “We – his brothers, sisters and family, are comforted and comforted by the love and respect he received from all those who respected him. Though Ratan Tata is no longer with us in person, his legacy of humility, generosity and purpose will continue to inspire future generations.”

In a statement, Tata Sons chairman N. Chandrasekaran described Ratan Tata as his “friend and mentor”.

Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said in a statement, “We bid farewell to Ratan Naval Tata with deep sadness. He was a truly extraordinary leader whose incomparable contribution has shaped not only the Tata Group but also the fabric of our nation.”

He said that since 1991, under the leadership of Ratan Tata, Tata Group expanded its global presence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday condoled the demise of veteran industrialist Ratan Tata, describing him as a visionary business leader and an extraordinary human being.

Ratan Tata passed away today in a hospital in Mumbai.

“The most unique aspect of Shri Ratan Tata ji was his ability to dream big and his passion to give back to others. He was at the forefront of promoting issues like education, healthcare, cleanliness, animal welfare,” Modi said on ‘X’.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed deep grief over the demise of Ratan Tata and described him as a “great son of the nation”. Gadkari wrote on ‘X’, “I had a close family relationship with Ratan Tata for three decades.”

Civil Aviation Minister K Ramamohan Naidu, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar also expressed deep condolences on the demise of Ratan Tata.

Billionaire Harsh Goenka also expressed grief over Tata’s demise and described him as a “titan” in a post on X.

Ratan Tata had said on Monday that there is nothing to worry about his health and he is getting his age-related health issues checked.

He had said, “I am currently undergoing a medical check-up due to age-related ailments. There is nothing to worry about. I am fine.”
